Our family fights diabetes. None of us have it, but my mother-in-law does and last year, she encouraged all of us to create a team and participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund walk. We all jumped at the chance, raised some money and spent a nice fall day walking together for a good cause.
To help feel like we were more of a team, we decided to have team shirts printed up. Everyone got one, even our little ones. This year, to mark the second year of our participation, I used iron on transfers to put the dates of the two walks on the backs of everyone’s shirt.
My daughters are in love with these florescent green team shirts. Every single time they see them, they say “our team shirts!” and they are so excited to wear them.
And so am I. Rather than just wearing the shirt around the house, I’m going to wear it when we raise money to help children who suffer from diabetes. It makes me feel good.
