This week my oldest daughter returns to preschool! This means we reinstate our school routine, from morning wake-ups to the bedtime routine. I figured this would be a good week to introduce you to my routines. I crave routine as much as my children, so I’ve developed several of them to make our life a little easier. Today, we are going to look at my daily routine.
I’m up really early every morning. I try to squeeze in a workout before my shower, which has to be done by 6 a.m. so my husband can hop in and still be out the door by 6:45 a.m.
Shower.
Then I make the bed. I read in “Real Simple” once that people who make their bed daily are happier. My husband always asks me the age old chicken-egg question. Are they happier because they make their bed or do happier people make their bed? I don’t know the answer to that. But I just keep making it.
Hair (not hair before makeup because then the hair goober might get on my nice clean face)
Get the kiddos ready! Sometimes they are up early, sometimes I have to wake them up.
I keep their clothes in hanging closet organizers organized by day. It makes it so much easier to get them dressed in the morning.
Got the clothes! Need the kids!
I get out breakfasts together. Oatmeal for me, dried cereal and fruit for the kids. We eat at work/day care because we are not first-thing-in-the-morning eaters.
I grab all of our bags, which I line up the night before.
I drop the kids off at day care.
And I’m on my way to work….running a tad bit late. Shhhh.
I work from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and drive back to the day care for pick up and then head home. Good news is that I made my dinner plan over the weekend (that’s coming up in the next few days) so I don’t have to figure out that part.
After dinner, I clean up the sippy cups, bowls, etc. that we used all day and load the dishwasher. Then I consult my cleaning routine and set to take care of the room of the day. Once that is taken care of, I work on a project with the kids, watch a movie with them or play. After some play time, we head downstairs for my exercise routine. They play, I work out. Lots of fun.
By 7:30 p.m., we are upstairs preparing for the next day.
I get the bags together, make sure everything is ready to go, find my bed and CRASH.
It’s a pretty full day and that’s pretty much all I can handle!
