I am so sad that summer vacation has come to an end, well, almost. We have 11 more days to live it up together before the oldest two head back to the classroom, the youngest returns to her day care routine and my work gets back into a regular groove that will probably help me stress less.
But here we are with just mere days left and I feel like I so much on my summer bucket list left yet to accomplish.
We’ve been cramming in trips to the library, bike rides, cool craft projects and random trips to 7-11 for mid-day Slurpees.
Some days the summer felt horrible. The kids were on no sort of schedule and I never knew what time anyone would wake up. Sometimes they just wanted to hang out and watch a movie, eat a late breakfast and then head outside to play on the swingset. Sometimes they were up early and ready to do something fun. I felt like I had to prepare for anything.
As much as I will miss them and the time we had together this summer, I am excited about the routine that school brings. We will, well, they will be in bed by 8 p.m. They will be up at 6:30 a.m. They will not be grazing through my cupboards all day long. They will brush their hair and teeth every day. And, most importantly, they will get back into the classroom so the teachers can teach them the things I can’t, like math, science, choir or how to read.
Until that alarm clock goes off the first morning of school, they are mine and this is still our summer.
